It varies by school. Published averages at US dental schools mostly cluster around 20-22 AA on the legacy scale (roughly 420-460 on the new 200-600 scale), with the most competitive programs higher. Each school page here links the school's own published number.

Where do these average DAT scores come from?

Every statistic is taken from the school's own published admissions materials (class profiles, FAQs, or admissions pages) as of July 2026, and each school page links directly to the source. Schools that don't publish a figure are marked as such — we never estimate.

Are DAT averages on the old or new scale?

Both appear in the wild: the DAT moved to a 200-600 scale in March 2025, but many schools still publish legacy 1-30 averages. Each page states which scale the school used, and our free converter translates between them using the official ADA concordance.
